MÁLAGA CAMPUS
Our Campus
OUR
Campus
In its mission to extend its reach to regional areas, the Universidad Industrial de Santander established the Málaga branch in 1996, continuing the social purpose previously carried out by the García Rovira, Norte y Gutiérrez University Foundation. Thus, the Málaga branch began operations under agreements with the department of Santander and the University Foundation, to continue offering programs in Forestry Engineering, Animal Husbandry, and Agricultural Business Administration, with both technological and professional cycles. Classes commenced on March 18, 1996.

The campus offers nine academic programs in the in-person education modality. The Forestry Engineering and Animal Husbandry programs are fully conducted in Málaga (10 semesters), while the engineering programs—Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Industrial, Chemical, and Systems—begin in Málaga (the first four semesters) and conclude in Bucaramanga (the remaining six semesters). The academic offering also includes seven distance education programs through the Institute of Regional Projection and Distance Education (IPRED), and new programs with regional relevance are currently in development.
The UIS Málaga campus features a livestock and agroforestry conversion laboratory for soil, bromatological, and greenhouse gas analysis; two greenhouses for research, fodder production, and forest reproduction; and facilities for interdisciplinary practice and research.
Currently, construction is underway on the new University Park at the UIS Málaga Campus. This facility will impact not only Málaga but also the provinces of García Rovira in Santander, Norte and Gutiérrez in Boyacá, and Pamplona in Norte de Santander.
The new building for the UIS Málaga regional campus, located in the northern part of the municipality’s urban area, will cover a total area of 16,416 square meters and will comprise seven functional, independent modules.
Additionally, the building will feature a 360-seat auditorium, administrative offices, parking, classrooms, laboratories, computer rooms, a library, a veterinary clinic, a woodworking shop, restrooms, student welfare areas, cafeterias, and other facilities designed to offer recreational opportunities for the community.
